This is a descriptive study that approach the chronic diseases characteristics and the need of their carriers to participate actively in their treatment, modifying their behaviors. Considering the complexity of behaviors, we suggest that health profissionals work with health education utilizing a psychosocial perspective in order to allow intervention plans directed both to the objetive and subjetive realities, thus meeting the individual real needs.
