Abstract

It is a descriptive study of quantitative approach, which objective was to evaluate the structure of institutionsthat give birth assistance in the district of Cuiabá-MT. This research took place in all hospitals of the public system whichgive this type of assistance, both public and private. Data were collected through a specific questionnaire, developed bythe light of Health Ministry resolutions for the childbirth attention, and professional entities’ recommendations. The nursewho was responsile for the childbirth attention units answered the questionnaire. The results point out problems in thephysical structure, material and human resources and aspects of humanization of the attention to the newborn in some ofthe studied hospitals.
