Abstract

This is an exploratory-descriptive study with the goal to know the nurses’ conception about both electronic
and handbook records, and to identify positive and negative aspects concerning the use of such records in hospitals of

technique adopted was the discourse of the collective subject. The results showed that the benefits of electronic record
on the handbook are immense, but the satisfaction with the computerized medical record is not complete. It was even
noticed that nurses are not adapted to this technology and need more knowledge to use it. The handbook records
presents disadvantages for contain illegible records, and possible loss of information does not allow more than one
person to use it simultaneously. Comparing the views of nurses, the study found that they believe the electronic registration
