Abstract

This study aimed to identify the errors committed by the nursing team, regarding drug preparation and

administration, and the actions taken by the hospital where the errors occurred. This quantitative and descriptive study

was developed at a hospital institution in the State of Minas Gerais. Participants were 35 professionals. Ninety-one errors

were observed. The main type was not monitoring the patient after medication, with 22% occurrences, followed by

inadequate administration route with 19% cases. The most common actions taken by the institution in response to the

error was giving a warning, with 35% cases, followed by not adopting an attitude with 26% cases. In conclusion, errors are

numerous and serious, and the hospital responds with warnings, seen as a form of punishment for those who have made

such errors.
