The dirofilariasis represent a problem of canine health due to serious organic changes that cause the infected host. The search for microfilariae in blood samples of 120 dogs showed that 12,5% of these animals were infected, confirming presence of heartworm on the Coari city. This was the first survey formally published on canine dirofilariasis in Medio Solimoes region needing who preventive measure to be necessary conformably the reality of locality.
