Abstract

The effectiveness of sexual performance generally depends on a selection made by rigorous partners
members of each species. Among humans, the financial test is one of the aspects that characterize the
sexual difference in the selection of partners. However, sexual behavior cannot be defined only by the
characteristic aspects of heterosexual people, because there are also homosexual relationships. From
this perspective, it was investigated, through a website, the preferences of homosexual and
heterosexual by monthly income and partner’s desire to have children. It was found that
heterosexual’s desire to have children is bigger than homosexuals. In addition, for both orientations,
the “monthly income” not proved to be a selective criterion when choosing a partner.

Author Biographies

Alda Loureiro Henriques, Universidade Federal do Pará

Bacharel em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) desde 1982. Em 1987, tornou-se especialista em Metodologia da Pesquisa e Teoria do Comportamento também pela UFPA. Em 1992 concluiu seu primeiro mestrado em Teoria e Pesquisa do Comportamento novamente pela UFPA e, três anos mais tarde, concluiu seu segundo mestrado em Sciences du Comportment et Neurosciences Cognitives, pela Universite de Toulouse III (Paul Sabatier), em 1995. Desde 2000 é Doutora em Sciences du Comportment et eurosciences Cognitives, também pela Universite de Toulouse III (Paul Sabatier). De 2002 a 2006 foi professora Adjunto II da Universidade Federal do Pará ministrando as disciplinas Bases Biológicas do Comportamento e Observação do Comportameto em Situação Natural. De 2007 à data atual é professora Adjunto IV da Universidade Federal do Pará, ministrando as disciplinas Bases Biológicas do Comportamento e Análise da Interação Professor-Aluno. Suas experiências de pesquisa são na área de Zoologia, com ênfase em Comportamento Animal, em: Dinoponera gigantea, ponerinae, orientação espacial, fidelidade à rota e modalidades sensoriais. Já desenvolveu pesquisas na área da Psicologia Evolucionista, com ênfase no desenvolvimento humano (Investimento Parental), atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: evolução do cuidado parental em seres humanos, desenvolvimento infantil, sistemas parentais, práticas e crenças de cuidado parental e seleção de parceiros. Atualmente desenvolve pesquisas na área do desenvolvimento humano com ênfase ao comportamento sexual de homens e mulheres homossexuais e heterossexuais e na área de orientação espacial em humanos.

Karina Nunes Leão, Universidade Federal do Pará

Graduanda em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). Atualmente, concentra-se na área de Psicologia Evolucionista, com ênfase em seleção de parceiros e orientação espacial.

Myenne Mieko Ayres Tsutsumi, Universidade Federal do Pará

É aluna da graduação do curso de Psicologia da Universidade Federal do Pará. Formada em inglês e formada em matemática pelo Kumon Instituto de Educação. Atualmente é orientanda da Professora Doutora Alda Loureiro Henriques, com a qual desenvolve pesquisas relacionadas à sexualidade e à orientação espacial humana, sendo voluntária desde outubro de 2010.
