Abstract

In Mulheres e costumes do Brasil (Women and customs of Brazil), the french traveler Charles Expilly tells about his meeting with a sebastianist in São Jorge dos Ilhéus. This episode helps to understand the situation of sebastianism in the middle of the 19th century.
