Abstract

The article presents some of the relations established by officers of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) with Brazilian political agents during the crisis of João Goulart's government (1961-1964). The focus is to identify these connections with Brazilian individuals or groups who were involved in coup initiatives, based on US public and private documents. The aim is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge about the participation of the United States in the 1964 coup, presenting unpublished information or little explored by historiography.
