Abstract

This work has as objective to evaluate the efficacy of water purifiers in elimination coliform and aerobic mesophiles bacteria. It was tested four water filtration system: 1 ozonizer plus cellulose purifier, 2 ozonizer plus porous porcelain purifier, 3 ozonizer and 4 porous porcelain purifier. The resultads obtained demonstrated that none of the filtration system studied were efficient in eliminating the total comum bacteria in the water, however in accordance with the Brazilian legislation, wich stablishes standard just for coliform, two filtration systems can be recommended: ozonizer plus porous porcelain purifier and porous porcelain purifier. These systems eliminate or reduce the contamination by coliform bacteria.
