This article addresses the issue of dual career in Spain. The Royal Decree 971/2007 is described in detail since it was meant to identify, define, name and study the population of High Level Athletes (DAN) in Spain. Good support practices for athletes in their dual career led by different levels of the Administration, by educational and private entities and professional sports clubs are described. Lastly, the dual career research trajectory in Spain is described, being its central axis the Grup d'estudis de Psicologia de l'Activitat Física i l'Esport (GEPE) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona headed by Miquel Torregrossa and Yago Ramis.
